F. Ellen Streets started her career in the insurance industry in October 1970. She established Pioneer Insurance Agency, Inc., on Oct. 1, 1983. She is a native of Pocahontas County and graduated from Marlinton High School. Ellen has been listed in several editions of the National Directory of Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals and Who’s Who of Women of the World. She was a 2016 inductee into the VIP woman of the year circle by the National Association of Professional Women.
Prior to starting her insurance career, Ellen served in the Women’s Army Corps for three years. From 1981 to 1991, she served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal in 1988. She is active in her church and community activities, and supports various local charities. Through the agency, she has participated in Randolph County Relay For Life, Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs, the Forest Festival parade in Elkins, the Strawberry Festival parade in Buckhannon, the Barbour County Fair parade, and other events. The agency supports 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and other youth programs.
